A chemical peel uses a chemical solution to smooth the texture of your skin by removing the damaged outer layers. A chemical peel is one of the least invasive ways to improve the appearance of your skin. Sun exposure, acne or just getting older can leave your skin tone uneven, wrinkled, spotted or scarred. Chemical peels improve skin texture, tighten pores and minimize wrinkles, resulting in a smoother, hydrated face with a healthy glow. Although chemical peels are used mostly on the face, they can also be used to improve the skin on your neck and hands. A chemical peel cannot treat deep facial lines, tighten loose and saggy skin, remove broken capillaries, change pore size or remove deep scars. For these, surgical procedures or laser treatment may be required. Your specific needs and goals will be discussed during the consultation and Dr De Aguiar will make appropriate recommendations in order to optimize your results.

There are a variety of peels available. The most suitable peel depends on your specific condition. Here is a basic list of the more popular peels.

Glycolic Acid Peels remove the top layer of dead cells on your skin, revealing a new layer that is smoother-textured and more vibrant looking. These peels help with fine lines, minor skin discolorations (such as "age" spots), and dry patches known as solar keratosis. They're also useful for treating acne and for minimizing old acne scars.

Lactic Acid, one of the most highly praised acids, exfoliates by dissolving dead surface cells. This procedure provides the skin with a renewed look, moisturizes, regulates PH balance, and lightens pigmentation.

Salicylic Acid is an excellent treatment for acne patients and those with excess oil production. Salicylic acid helps slow down the shedding of the cells inside the follicles, preventing clogging. It is an excellent treatment to help with the reduction of blackheads and whiteheads.

Jessner’s is a medium-depth acid peel designed for more extensive damage that AHA’s can improve. It contains both salicylic and lactic acid along with resorcinol. It is a great treatment for hyperpigmentation as well as a benefit for skin that has been damaged due to sun exposure.

TCA, or trichloro acetic acid, is an intermediate to deep peel that is offered under the supervision of a plastic surgeon. It is designed for those looking to improve overall skin smoothness and reduce fine lines and wrinkles. As with other various acids, it can also help eliminate superficial discoloration.

We offer a wide variety of acids in a wide range of strengths. Working under the supervision of Dr. De Aguiar, allows us to have access to medical grade peels.
